Utility bill payment penalty.

I live in Ishikawa, Uruma, Okinawa. I am moving to a new house on Nov 15th from the current one but I will be traveling to my home country on the 18th to be with my son on his 1st birthday and return only in early Jan. I am unsure how to pay my utility bills for the month of November as I know no one here to help. I will only be able to apply for auto deduction from bank account next month and it will apparently take a couple of months for that to be processed. I just wanted to know if there is a way to pay the bills in advance for the next two months. If not, what is the penalty for late payment in these cases?Any suggestion is very much appreciated.

  1. They will send another letter with another due date, if you don’t pay, they will suspend your service. You will have to call them and ask for another bill and say “sumimasen” a bunch of times.

  2. Call them beforehand an inform them about the situation. They can probably advice you on how to proceed.

  3. If you turn everything off, your bill might be under 2000 yen including the base charge, which means they might not even bill you for November and combine two under 2000 bills into next month. But ya you could probably call and ask, you could also probably suspend service if you’re gone for a couple months.
