Ritsuunkyo and Kinosaki first week of January

I’m planning to go to Kinosaki from Kyoto and I want to go do the sunrise hike up Ritsuunkyo for the Takeda castle ruins. However my timing is that I can only go on January 4th… Will things be open for me? How possible will it be to hike up to the viewing platform from the station in the snow? I’m not driving so I have to go from Takeda JR

Also how likely is it to book it from Kinosaki first thing in the morning to Ritsuunkyo?

Couple options I’m thinking of:

* Day trip to Kinosaki, Stay in Asago near the trail head for the night, 5 AM start going to Ritsuunkyo. Get up there by 6:50 AM
* Kinosaki for the night, book it to Ritsuunkyo first thing in the morning and get there 9 AM(bye bye pretty clouds)
* Kinosaki for the night, book it to Ritsuunkyo at 4 AM AND come back for breakfast/check out
* Kinosaki for the night, chill around for the day, overnight in Asago, hike up in the morning
* Skip Kinosaki, overnight in Asago – I’m going to Nagano next for snowboarding so can bouge it up ryokan there instead

If I wake up this early is there really a point for me to stay in Kinosaki as well?

  1. Takeda Castle is closed from 4 January to end of February as conditions on the trail can be fairly treacherous (it gets significant amount of snow during winter).
