What’s it like to work at a tech company in Japan?

Language barrier aside, what are the challenges would I be facing?

I’m a computer science student and the university I’m in has a lot of Japanese company connections. So getting into one wouldn’t be super hard. I assume the pay is super good but I want to know if its worth the risk. I at least would like to be informed.

Compared to regular Japanese office work? Sure.

Compared to tech companies elsewhere? Haha

  2. This is a very broad and open ended question. If you’re at the position where you haven’t even researched average pay in Japanese tech companies, then I think the best thing for you to do is to search this subreddit for the many, many other instances of people asking about working in tech in Japan, as well as googling around and doing some of your own research. Tokyodev.com has a good forum full of posts answering questions similar to this.

My TL;DR: the process of writing code is the same as anywhere else, but the company culture of Japanese tech companies varies *widely*
