Student in Japan, going to the US for a trip. What exactly do I need?

I have read the webpage regarding the documents I require, but with how volatile the rules have been I’ve been extremely paranoid that I may be missing something and may be declined entry into the US or declined re-entry into Japan (hence why I have pretty much turned down every opportunity to go out of the country these last two years) I’ve got three vaccinations and if I’m not wrong I need a PCR test, which I also do not know how to take.

Sorry if this is a repeated question, but just to confirm what did you guys need to come in/out? I’m leaving in December and returning in January. And how can I get a PCR?

  1. At this point you don’t really need anything but vaccine certs to get back in. Look up the MySOS app procedure for getting back into Japan for reference, but by December you probably won’t need.

  2. I’m also going to the US, also as a student in a Japanese uni, next week. I’ve checked several times that we don’t need PCR tests anymore. We need a certificate of full vaccination (full = 2x or more) though.
