Pimsleur, worth it ?

I tried pimsleur for a few weeks and I liked it but I didn’t make it far past the 12th one. It was too expensive for me but if anyones tried it for longer and found its helped maybe I’ll sign up again. Any way I can get it for cheaper ( or even free 🤭)
Also, any other shadowing resources you recommend?
Thank you ❣️

  1. Out of all the methods, Pimsleur was the one I retained the most phrases from. Problem is, with my ADHD it’s very hard for me to be still and just listen to something, and repeat back for 30 minutes. That being said, now that I’m out of college, definitely back on my list!

  2. For starting out it is incredibly efficient how much and how fast it teaches, especially practicing speaking, so I always recommend it to beginners

Once you get to late beginner / very early intermediate though its usefulness declines rapidly, just because they focus more on learning through exposure than actual textbook methods – which, as much as some people don’t want to admit, is a necessity

So worth your money? In my opinion, totally, especially if you’re a beginner, as for discounts – they have promos right on their site if you didn’t notice, otherwise I can try digging through some ancient emails and see if I can find an offer for you

Edit: actually I see there’s a promo now for 20% off

  3. I actually started with pimsleur as my only learning tool. It’s far from perfect, however it helps me retain so many more words than I have from textbooks. I genuinely like it. I think it’s great, however I have noticed that a couple of phrases are a little outdated now.
