Proof of Dual Income for a couple moving in together?

Hey everyone,

Recently my fiancé and I have decided to move in together. We’re looking for apartments now, and we’ve applied for one already. We’re waiting to hear back from the screening process, but in the meantime, I had a question in the event we need to keep looking:

Since we are looking for a slightly bigger apartment, we figured that we will both need to pay some level of rent. Will the leasing companies consider both of our incomes together when deciding if we qualify, or will they only take the primary renter’s rent into consideration? Any personal experiences with this type of issue? On the application we filled out, they did ask what both of our incomes are, so I’m pretty sure they’ll consider the two together.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

  1. It just really depends if they allow 二人入居可, and both names to be used in the contract. I use my name only in the contract, even though I live with my partner. Of course, this would depend if your annual income suffices.
