If you move, do you have to go to Immigration and inform them?

Also, who updates your residence card? Do you have to bring that to Immigration and wait for hours just for an address change, or can you go somewhere else, like your new city hall? Thanks.

  1. The only time you need to notify immigration if you move is if you’re on a spouse visa or a dependent visa and you move to a separate address to your visa supporting spouse.

I guess the other time is if you intend to move overseas to reside overseas, but you want to keep your status of residency. Then you’d need to grab an *up to* 5 year re-entry permit from them.

But for just your normal standard change of address, no need to notify immigration, your new, or current (if moving within the same municipality) municipality/ward office will update your resident card address when you go to register your new address.
