Hi, just got confirmed covid. I live with my wife and toddler son. I’m self-isolating from them, but I’m not sure up to what point they need to self-isolate too. Would it be OK for them to go to the park? Shopping?
If they’ve been exposed to you it’s probably not ok for them to go out. They should be isolating also.
They should have given you directions when you were confirmed positive. They will need to self isolate as well. That said your wife can probably quickly run errands or something. She might come down with it a few days after you.
The NHK series says this is the new rule for close contacts, counting day from the day infection reduction measures are put in place (you wearing a mask at home mostly I think):
“From July 22, the required period to isolate is now five days, in principle. People who test negative on days two and three can end isolation on the third day.”
