I might be ignorant and not know how to work it. When using the app 99.99% of anything that I want to watch either says I need to rent/buy (kinda defeats the purpose of streaming service) or I click on “how do I watch this” and says I need to subscribe. Am I blocked from certain videos due to only being a free trial?
I’m aware of bypassing some issues with a VPN, but if I’m doing extra steps I’ll just bootleg the movie instead of subscribing to Prime and a VPN.

For the rent/buy issue, there should be a slider thing in the top right corner of the top page that says 見放題/free to me, if you activate that it will only show you the stuff that’s actually included in Prime. When using the search function you can choose to only show the stuff that’s included via the 並べ替え/filter button in the top right corner of the search result screen (look for the 試聴方法/ways to watch options). Don’t know whether there are restrictions on free trials though.
Not sure exactly what you are asking. But I’ll try to clear up some things.
Amazon prime accounts are based from the country you sub in. You can’t change catalogues like Netflix by using VPN it doesn’t work I don’t think. If you are travelling and say you want to access your home country stuff, that works. But if you log without vpn I think it may work for Amazon originals only. I haven’t travelled in 3 years so I’m not sure if it changed.
Some movies and shows on Amazon prime are not free but.you can rent them. It makes things difficult to understand but I think Apple TV is the same. Just search the free catagories.
