8 Day Itinerary Check – Tokyo > Hakone > Osaka

Hi, this is my second time travelling to Japan for holidays. Previously I travelled with my family pre covid in 2019. However this time I will be going alone.

23rd January: Reach Tokyo HND, 10.15pm. Either take train to Shinagawa or Taxi (if too late) to Hotel (Shinagawa Tobu)

24th January: Visit around Asakusa, Tokyo Tower, Shibuya, Akihabara etc.

25th January: Check out early and take Shinkansen to Hakone/Odawara. Plan to take the Hakone ropeway and the pirate ship. Visit the Tori gate if time allows.

There is some dilemma here, I am with 1 large luggage ( 30 in x 24 in x 12 in). So I am thinking logistics-wise it would be easier to check in at Odawara, but Hakone seems like a nicer place to have a night over, probably with an onsen experience. Any suggestions for this?

26th January: Check out and take Shinkansen to Osaka. Roam around Osaka.

27th January: Visit USJ Osaka.

28th January: Day Trip to Kyoto

29th January: Check out earlier and take Shinkansen back to Tokyo HND. Probably roam around Tokyo for abit before catching flight, however I would like to store my large luggage. Is it enough for me to store it, or are there any alternatives?

Catch plane at Tokyo HND (12am, 30th January)

Also some questions

1. With that much usage of the shinkansen, is it advisable to get the Full Japan JR Pass?
2. I understand that during my visit it would be deep into winter, are there any advices on what to avoid, like USJ may be closed, or the Hakone Ropeway being closed?

Thanks!
