I’ve been planning on transferring to a university in Akita city during my second year, but recently I’m reconsidering that goal due to financial struggles.
I went to Japan before to study, and most students I spoke to had a lot of financial security to back up their studies so I guess I’m under the impression that Japan is for people with strong financial support.

Hard to say. You have been to Japan already, so you know how much life costs. Consider that the prices are rising, but the Yen is weak, so adjust your experience for that. Only you know how much money you have, and whether you can vegetate along with that amount.
