Hi, I’ve been to Japan a few times. Though never on such a tight schedule. Also never with just my Dad. He’s strong but not used to the amount of walking you do in Japan.
Nov 15- arrive in Osaka in the AM. Staying in Shinsaibashi. Resting and finding easy food nearby. Shinsaibashi walking street.
Nov 16- Dotonbori. Teppanyaki dinner
Nov 17- Shopping and eating. Osaka Aquarium?
Nov 18- Train to Imabari. Going for an event.
Nov 20- Train to Matsuyama. Dogo Onsen.
Nov 21- Train to Kyoto. Tempura endo/kiyomizudera/gion tour.
Nov 22- flight out of Osaka 8pm.
It’s a lot of moving around but imabari and Matsuyama are essential as we will be with other family at that time.
Also how is arriving in the AM? I’m hoping the jet lag won’t be as bad if I sleep and arrive in the am?
How is staying in the Shinsaibashi area. I’m noticing a lot more food options seem to be in the kita ward but maybe I’m wrong.
Any recommendations for teppanyaki or beef in Osaka?
Also does getting the kansai rail pass seem worth it?
Thank you!!

Check out PaolofromTokyo on YouTube for great info on Japan.
Shinsaibashi not much food option… that’s right next to Dotonbori that have a good reputation to have lot of food options.
In my experience, arriving in the AM doesn’t help with jetlag. But I can’t sleep on airplanes (or any other transportation), so your experience may vary.
