Getting a visa for India as a UK national (or anybody who has applied for a Indian visa in Japan)

As the title says. It turns out British citizens can’t get an e-visa anymore so I’m applying for a paper one. The website says it should take about 5 working days (I leave next month so the timing should be fine) and I’ve filled out the forms on [https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/](https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/) which has given me a two page visa application form.

However the next step is still a bit opaque to me and I can’t find clear information on the website. I’ll ring them tomorrow but thought I’d see if anybody on here can help me first.

Do I send just the visa application form to the embassy for now or do I have to send my passport too? Do I have to go for an interview? Do I have to go to pick up my passport in person?

Any help or guidance welcome!
