I noticed that in concerts, the audience is currently asked not to sing along due to COVID measures.
However, I wonder if you have any recent experience attending one of idol group performances like AKB48 groups.
To my understanding, the wotagei (ヲタ芸) is one of the key components in idol groups.
Is this also currently stopped, or can I expect the fans to still do it in the venue?
basically i’m thinking if I should try getting a ticket to idol group shows at the moment or if I better wait until the restrictions are lifted.

Wotagei is only really present in underground idol groups. There aren’t enough space in actual concert.
I believe most underground idol groups have resume normal cheering activities. Most bigger groups that you would go to concert in bigger places still don’t allow even cheering. It’s sitting silently while clapping and waving lightsticks.
