4K TV for gaming & movies (Xbox series X)

Hello community, my old 50inch LED Panasonic is about to retired after almost 10 years on duty. Seeing that I only paid 9.8man for it I would say it was a good deal.
I have been browsing for a while for the next 10 years tv to have, and found that the LG C1 (65inch / 20man) is a great tv not only for gaming but as overall tv with the latest gadgets and tech (VRR, HDR, OLED, etc). The thing is, my Japanese wife hesitates to get a LG tv and keeps trying to push me towards Regza, Bravia, and other Japanese brands.
I checked Bravia, for example, and if I want all the features that the LG C1 comes with I need to pay over 30man, and it doesn’t come with OLED.
Could someone kindly shed a light in how reliable LG OLED tvs are so my wife comes to my side on getting one?
Also, plus and cons on LG C1, or any other similar model from a different brand?
Thank you in advance!

  1. My last two TVs have been LG OLEDs and I’ve never had an issue. I currently have the 2021 C1 and it has great picture quality, is easy to use, and like you said is good for gaming. I also have a Series X and it supports 120fps @ 4k, which is awesome. I don’t really have any negatives, except for the huge ass remote, which isn’t really a fault with LG because it’s standard in Japan.

  2. If your wife likes to tape multiple shows, go with regza. It’s not as pricey as Bravia. LG often cones with just 2 chidigi tuners. Means you only can tape one show and watch one. Regza has 3 or 9 tuners depends on model.

Otherwise you might end up buying LG and separate chidigi recorder for your wife.

  3. Well if you want OLED, all the large screens are made by LG, even in Sony TVs etc. The difference is going to be in sound, which personally I can never tell the difference because I don’t have fancy speaker sets, and software on the smart TVs. Here I find LG‘s interface to be much easier to use than Sony‘s. I’ve been perfectly happy with my beautiful 65 inch LG for the last two years

  4. I had an LG TV (50″ Led, I don’t remember the exact model) that ended up showing defects after 1 year. But despite that, I ended up buying another LG (the C1) and so far I’m happy with the acquisition.

It has the best cost-benefit when compared to Japanese brands (IMHO crazy overpriced). If you’re going with the C1, just make sure to add the 5-year extended warranty that will help bring the peace of mind your wife needs (at least that’s what worked here).

  5. LG is the way to go. Sony is also good on the higher end but can be a bit more pricey.

The other Japanese brands are all priced twice as high as what their specs offer, no idea why they’re so overpriced. BS like a 50 inch non-OLED with no smart TV capabilities for 250k.

  6. So many replies, thank you all! Love this community, keep them coming pls 🙂
Will share with my wife at the end of the day, hopefully having enough info to be 100% sure to which one to get (obviously I’m for the LG C1 😉
