Switching from Softbank to Linemo, want new phone – anything to watch out for?

I’m dumb about phones. I used the search but couldn’t find anything that quite answered my questions.

I’m with Softbank now and want to change to linemo, keeping my same phone number.

I’m currently using an iPhone 8 which is on its last legs and so I also want to buy a new phone. I’ll probably get a 3rd-gen iPhone SE off someplace on kakaku.

I want to make the switch to Linemo before changing phones, but is there anything I need to watch out for (extra fees, incompatibility, etc)?

Should I sign up to Linemo with my current iPhone 8 and then change to the new phone? Or should I just get the new phone and sign up to Linemo with that?

And, I *think* any new iPhone SE I buy will be compatible with Linemo, but is that right?

Thanks for indulging such super-basic questions.

  1. I have linemobile which is the oldest service with docomo no complains at all.
Not sure how much worsr the line can get with softbank but it should be good
They been asking me to switch for 2 years now…
    Im still happy with docomo

  2. LINEMO is just the SIM card contract, doesn’t come with a phone so it doesn’t matter whether you continue to use your old iPhone with SoftBank or a new one when you sign up.

You can either put the new LINEMO SIM card into your old phone and then move the SIM card over to your new phone when you get it, or buy your new phone in advance and insert the LINEMO SIM card into the new phone once you receive it.
