Rent a car

Hey everyone.
So, I’m having a family crises this last few days and in need to make a quick trip to another province. Since is last minute, I’m not sure I’ll be able to get a bus ticket, so I’m already B-planing to rent a car for the trip. But that would be a first, so I’m not sure how to proceed, if is expensive as it seems, the insurance and stuff…
Any advise or story with Rentable cars are appreciated 👍

  1. Do you have a license? That’s the first step.
One way rentals are expensive, so a bus may be cheaper.

  2. If you have a Japanese license you can easily rent a car. I often use Rakuten travel to book rent a cars. I usually pay 4000~7000 yen p/d including the highest level of insurance when I book through Rakuten.

  3. 1. Go to rental car websites
    2. Compare prices and decide what you need
    3. Rent car
    4. Drive car
    5. Return car

    It’s not particularly complicated.

  4. It is usually straightforward: call the rental agency and ask if they have a car for that day and that time. If you don’t return it back to the same shop it’s going to be bit expensive. Generally think of 1 man a day for something what’s not Kei car and up from there.

What makes me worried is that it seems that you don’t drive in japan, yet for a first drive going far is quite challenging.
