Any previous snowboard instructors that have worked in Niseko, Japan for a season?

Hi everyone,

I am heading to Niseko this winter season and couldn’t be more stoked! I do have 2 jobs that I’m considering and I’m TORN. One is a snowboard instructor position at Niseko Village Resort and the other is a Marketing position at Nisade.

I’ve always thought snowboard instructing looks like a fun and cool job to experience (especially in Japan) but wondering if it’s not actually that great? I’ll just be a Level 1 instructor so I guess the major downsides would be teaching complete beginners on the bunny hill and not getting to ride pow days, being out in the cold all the time, and unstable work hours. But also seems like there are benefits with being an instructor since you can get training/clinics to improve your riding and early warm up laps before lessons (at least here in Canada, you get those opportunities in the Snow School, not sure about Japan tbh).

Any snowboard instructors here that have taught in Japan? Wondering what your experience was like and how you enjoyed it! Also wondering if it’s easy to come back for a second season with the snow school after instructing with them for a season – would they sponsor you to come back again?

My other option would be continuing my career in the Marketing role (my background is in Marketing) so not sure if this is smarter/better for a long-term perspective.

Any help is appreciated!
