Looking for merch/figurine places besides Akihabara

Sorry if this has been posted in the wrong subreddit, point me in the right direction if that’s the case.

My wife and I are currently staying in Shinjuku and made the trip to Akihabara yesterday. We love Attack On Titan and were on the hunt for some small AOT figures however there was none in sight. One Piece, Naruto, Demon Slayer as far as the eye could see but not a shred of AOT.

Is there any specific reason for that considering it’s popularity? That being said are there any other cities/shops that sell AOT figures or any other smaller niche titles like Danganronpa?

Cheers and thanks for your time!

  1. Akihabara
    Nakano broadway
    Ikebukuro

You can always check out book off stores or lashinbang in your vicinity. We did that

  2. Marui Annex in Shinjuku had a bunch of figures last time I was there. I think a lot of them are secondhand so it’s easier to find stuff from past seasons. You could also try researching Ikebukuro which also has a ton of anime stuff but is not as internationally famous for it.

  3. Shops tend to lead with current releases – I just checked and the last season aired around six months ago, which could be enough to bury the merch for a while. Your best bet is probably second-hand, and for a wide and deep array of that you could try either Radio Keikan building, near the JR Akihabara station, or Akiba カルチャーズ (“Cultures”) Zone, near Mandarake (edit: also worth a look, but it’s a dense place to explore). Both have several rental box shops, and also gachapon resellers; it can take some searching to find what you want, but they’ll certainly have some AoT stuff in there. Or, you could try your luck at any nearby Book Off or Hobby Off, if it’s convenient.

Edit: if you’re not already doing so, remember to ask for Shingeki No Kyojin, since a lot of Japanese won’t be aware of the English title.
