I’ll be traveling solo to Japan this December (my first time to Japan) and I’m both excited and feeling like I’m missing some stuff.
I’ll be going to Osaka =>Nara => Kyoto => Tokyo => Nagano.
I’m more of an outdoors day person as a solo traveler. Not too interested in the nightlife (aside from the illuminations). I do like amusement parks, but not sure how fun they would be by myself.
Day 1: Osaka: Osaka Castle, Umeda Sky Building, and Dotonbori Area @ night
Day 2:
=> To Nara (Leave luggage @ station) Todaiji Temple, Horyuji Temple, and Nara Park
=> To Kyoto, Check-in @ 3PM
Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, gio ji temple, dashino Nembutsu-jikinkaku ji temple. (not sure if I’ll be able to cover all of these?)
Day 3: Kiyomizudera Temple
Daigo ji temple, nanzen ji temple, Ginkaku ji then philosopher’s path,
fushimi inari shrine
Day 4: maruyama park, sannen zaka and ninnen zaka (Souvenirs), kiyomizu dera
Day 5: To Tokyo by Shinkansen and chill @ Accommodations, konbini and rest of the day.
Day 6: Odaiba:
– Team lab planets (Art Museum), Gundam Unicorn statue! (DiverCity Tokyo Plaza), Tokyo art aquarium ($20), Odaiba Yakei (Winter illumination) Night
Day 7: Shinjuku: shinjuku gyoen (Park) => Shibuya: crossing, Ghibli museum (If tickets available), Nintendo store, Pokemon center, Miyashita park, Hatchiko statue, Shibuya Sky (Sunset), Megurogawa Illumination (night)
Day 8: Akihabara explore => Uenno: ameya yokocho (Souvenirs), Asakusa temple, Sensoji temple, big o ferris wheel, then explore random light illuminations: Tokyo City Dome illumination, Marunouchi (Near Tokyo station), Caretta Shiodome, Hibiya Step Square illumination
Day 9-12
Check out @ 11 AM => Shinkansen to Nagano => Shiga Kogen Stay
2 Days Ski and 2 days snowboard w/ lessons half-ish days.
Supplement with: Jigokudani monkey park (Jigokudani Yaenkōen), Zenkoji Temple, Matsumoto Castle (Winter illumination)
Day 13: Check out @ 10AM
Travel Back to Tokyo => Afternoon flight back home.
