Rakuten mobile and Pixel 7

So I have been using Rakuten mobile for 2 years with no problem on my old Huawei P30 Pro which isn’t even an officially supported device.

Got the new Pixel 7 pro and Rakuten mobile worked fine, but it sometimes stops working randomly for a couple of hours, then starts working again.

This happens in the same area without me moving, so I don’t think it should be a reception issue. It just goes from perfect 4g to nothing at all while being at home. Restarting the phone does not help, but after some hours it’s back working.

When I check the sim settings, it tells me Rakuten is temporarily not available. My gf also uses Rakuten on her iPhone and has no outages at all.

Is that a pixel problem? All pixels were supported by Rakuten so far, so has anyone experienced similar problems or any idea what might cause it?

  1. Do you have the [Japan model (GFE4J)](https://store.google.com/jp/product/pixel_7_pro_specs?hl=ja), or did you import it?

    If it’s the latter, you might want to check what network bands it supports, and compare it with the JP model as well as what network bands does Rakuten use, and their [coverage map](https://network.mobile.rakuten.co.jp/area/index_a.html?l-id=gnavi_area).

  2. I would guess you have a bad phone? Update everything do a full reset of the phone and if it continues return it to google
