Should I learn radicals kanji or RTK’s primitive kanji?

I’ve been using anki deck with a core 2k/6k along with a [RTK deck](https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/806367119).

I’m adding 15/20 new cards to both decks everyday but I’m still a bit torn on if I should keep going with RTK or not.

Especially because a friend of mine shared to me her japanese classes, she had to learn 214 traditional kanji radicals and that’s it, while my RTK deck has over 2000 cards.

So i’m wondering if my time learning RTK could be spent elsewhere or if I should keep going.

Thanks

  1. Hate to break it to you, but simply memorizing those 214 radicals won’t save you from having to learn to recognize the 2000+ jouyou kanji in your RTK deck.

  2. The 214 traditional radicals are only a small part of the total number of components, and those 2000 cards are almost all characters of their own, not components

Obligatory radical ≠ component talk: The radical is only one part of a kanji, which is used for indexing in physical dictionaries and pretty useless if you use an electronic dictionary)
