So….I’m wanting/needing to begin studying Japanese again after a lengthy absence of ‘properly’ studying.
Background: I lived in Japan for 4 years, having studied Japanese at university and school overseas before then. I was using Japanese daily of course in both the office and social life during my work in Japan at around N2 level.
Now: I’m wanting to study Japanese again to improve my ability in business situations – particularly with emails and creating presentations. I’m no longer based in Japan.
At the moment, I’m reading online articles and news items on business/industry specific sites, noting down relevant and new vocab as I go. However, I’m wondering what more I can do without being immersed in a Japanese environment…
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Or have any suggestions of how to improve/practice more?

Similar situation here, I studied Japanese at uni to about N2 level, then didn’t do much for quite a while…. currently taking lessons once a week again, which isn’t all that much but at least it’s something and makes me feel like I’m slowly but surely getting back into it. Online could be an option, there’s various websites like italki where you can find tutors for quite reasonable prices. Otherwise, work might be able to sponsor something? (Assuming your work is Japan-related if you’re writing emails in Japanese?)
Also, not sure where you are based, but you might be able to find some casual meet up groups with Japanese speakers. For example, in the UK (London), the Japan Society organises monthly meetups where you can practice holding speeches in either Japanese or English, Toastmasters-style (they used to do it online over covid but alas it’s back to in person only these days).
