Atheltic tape in sport and winter gear shops

Hello all, I am posting here once again.

I want to start thanking you for your guidance with moving to Japan, you have been fantastic help.

I got my CoE and the embassy is now processing it. I was told by a worker that in a few days, I will get a message to pick up my passport with the visa. While I am waiting, I am getting myself prepared for my new job as a snowsports instructor and I need to get new gear.

I have 3 days in Tokyo to rest and gear up before heading over to Niigata for my introduction. And this is where I need help.

1.After landing, I will be staying near Ogawamachi station since there are board shops nearby. However, I have a few results where to buy kinesio tape. When I googled, the pharmacies didn’t carry this tape, just regular bandages. So it seems that I need to head over to Shibuja or Shinjuku to buy that. If you perhaps do know any sport shops that carry this tape near Ogawamachi, I would be very thankful.

2. Besides from what’s listed in the FAQs about things to bring from outside Japan, what should a person like me, who is going to be outdoors 95% of the time bring from Sweden? I can only assume that a good Swedish thermos is a good choice to have on a cold Japanese mountain but since I have never lived in Japan, I can only assume (Maybe I am wrong and Japanese thermoses are in fact better!?). So if you happen to know what I should bring from Sweden or buy in Japan, I would be incredibly thankful and happy since I am trying to pack smart for this job.

Again, many thanks for your patience – you have been real sweet with me.

Is this different from sports “Taping tape”, that you’d use to bind an injured ankle? You can get that at any drug store. An example is this: https://www.battlewin.com/battlewin_tape/type.html There are elastic and non-elastic varieties in various widths and firmness.

  2. … it seems simpler to buy gear in Niigata or online, particularly if you are planning on shipping it from Tokyo, no?
