Apologies if the title is confusing, i’m not really sure how to summarise, or even how to generally word my question
i’m a female studying Japanese alone, I’ve been trying to work on my accent as I’ve been told that my pronunciation is pretty much perfect, so the next thing I want to get down is the accent (my accent is English/Scottish so sounds pretty weird speaking Japanese even if my pronunciation is correct).
when I try and speak with an accent, my voice naturally goes to a lower pitch, and when I try and repeat stuff in a higher pitch it feels like it sounds off and kinda strained? my worry with this is a lot Japanese women seem to have quite high pitched voices, whereas when I speak Japanese I feel like I sound a lot more like a man
should I try and make my pitch higher as i’m still a beginner and trying to get the accent down so it would be easier to ‘change’ now, or should I continue with what feels more natural?
sorry if this is worded badly, I feel like it’s a bit difficult to explain, thanks in advance for any help!!

I wouldn’t worry about the register of your Japanese voice. It’s natural for your voice register to fluctuate depending on your language. What I would focus on is learning the Japanese pitch accent because, in my studies, it is tough to find information about it. The Japanese pitch accent is critical for understanding, mainly because there are a lot of homonyms in the language.
I feel like if it’s natural for your voice to be a bit deeper there’s no reason to force yourself to change it. I feel like focusing on that would probably take away focus from more important stuff.
