NRT, Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Miyajima Island, Osaka, Nara, Hakone, Tokyo – NRT
**Overall Questions:**
1. I did the analysis and it surprisingly seems like we should NOT get the JR pass even though we’re in Japan for 14 days. Did I do that right? That’s because we’ll use the other train a lot it seems in Osaka and to go to Nara. However, it sounds complicated to get single day tickets – should I just get the JR RAIL PASS??
2. Are we missing any MUST sees
3. Are we under/over committing ourselves? We’re so excited if you can’t tell 😁
4. Husband is a big gamer so any specific recommendations are welcome!
5. We LOVE food…but not biggest fans of shashimi. Share your foodie finds!

It looks like it isn’t worth it. You can buy Suica card (or if you have iPhone, install the mobile Suica app) and use it to board trains/subway/bus almost everywhere.
Buy the Shinkansen ticket to Kyoto. This allow you to board the faster Nozomi train.
Buy JR West Kansai-Hiroshima pass for your Hiroshima trip.
Buy the Shinkansen ticket from Osaka back to Hakone to to Tokyo.

The weekend in Kyoto. It’s near peak fall foliage, so it will be extremely crowded. I don’t think you can finish all places on your list.

iirc just a round-trip Tokyo-Kyoto should make a 1w JR Pass worth it, seeing as you go for Osaka, Nara, Hiroshima, etc, the JR Pass for 14 should definitely be worth it (last time I checked 230€ 7 days, 300€ 14 days). You can also use it for the NEX to/from NRT. idk whether you still have enough time left for buying the JR Pass though…

This is way too much micromanagement, you most definitely will get stressed out by this harsh planning.
Also this Sunday and the Saturday are way too crammed, that won’t fit.

Is there a specific reason you don’t want to do Kyoto & Osaka together? Osaka usually is just 20-30min from Kyoto
