Itinerary Check/Suggestions – 4 days 3 nights at Fuji Five Lakes during early April 2023 (road trip)

Hi, I’ll be travelling with my husband, my brother-in law, my BIL’s wife and their 2-year old son – so there’s 4 adults and a toddler. We have not seen each other since right before covid hits, so the trip is also partially to catch up and spend time together as we live in different countries. We’re doing 3 nights together at Fuji and 2 nights in Tokyo before we split up and travel to different parts of Japan.
We’re hoping to have a slow relaxing time while also getting to see the elusive Mt. Fuji. I went to Hakone before but it was all cloudy the entire day I was there sadly.

**Day 1**
Departing from Tokyo in the morning after renting a car
Stop by Tokyo Open Air Architecture Museum
Check-in hotel
Head to Lake Yamanaka which is the closest to Mount Fuji for a stroll
Oshino Hakkai sightseeing and stroll

**Day 2**
Arakuyama Sengen Park – Fuji Shrine, Chureito Pagoda
Maglev Metro Exhibition
Lunch at Houtou Fudou (Fuji’s specialty)
Itchiku Kubota Art Museum
Nagasaki-Oishi Park for evening stroll

**Day 3 – seeing most of the lakes, a lot probably will just be quick pit stops**
Lake Kawaguchi – Mount Panaromic ropeway
Lake Saiko
Optional: Yurari Onsen (nearby Lake Saiko)
Lake Shojiko
Lake Motosu
Shiraito Falls
Optional: Ide Sake & Brewery (very near our hotel)

**Day 4**
Fuji Q Highlands – Naruto Hidden Leaf Village (not really here for the roller coaster rides)
Head back to Tokyo

**Questions:**
1) Is the itinerary too sparse since we have a car and can easily get around without needing to wait for public transport? I do not want to overload it as well since we have a toddler with us.

2) Suggestions on what to do at Fuji area at night – eat/shop? My husband and I can get the car to drive around ourselves at night if my BIL and family wants to rest.

3) Any suggestions on other must-sees in Fuji since we have so many days there? And please spam me with suggestions on what to eat there as well? Good food and dessert places!

4) Is it doable to even go to Hakone from Fuji? According to google, the drive is about 1 hour 15 mins only but I’m not sure the road conditions there.

5) Suggestions for any interesting stops/eateries when travelling from Tokyo to Fuji Five Lakes.

Thank you so much for reading and I really appreciate any suggestions.
