  1. A representative for The Society of Japanese English Teachers, speaking on condition of anonymity, said “no big deal. We will take it upon ourselves to help our students memorise arcane grammar rules and say “this is a pen””.

  2. I had a glance at the AJET Connect page and JETAA, the alumni association. There hasn’t been much activity since spring 2021.

In the last year, r/JETProgramme posts seem to indicate that ALTs have had to take on more lessons to cover for schools that didn’t receive ALTs.

  3. I mean, the US just hit a record high number of hospitalizations despite the vaccine being readily available for a year now. The kind of people who say “I don’t care about that, Japan needs to let me in because it is my human right to live in their country” are frankly the last people Japan needs in her schools.

  4. This is what happened to me back in 2020 with JET. It sucks but it is what it is with Covid surging. Hoping they can snag some temp jobs until they’re clear to travel!

  5. IIWII. It sucks but what can you do? With this yu can assume the current ALTS will get new contracts without much fuss. Provided, of course, that the BOE’s want to keep doing business with dispatch companies and JET.
