Hi all, I need advice on transportation for my itinerary above. I know there’s a shinkansen that goes from Tokyo Station to Nagano, but there doesn’t seem to be a straightforward way of travelling from Nagano to Yamanashi, most online guides are saying to take the train from Nagano back to Tokyo, then transfer to a train that goes to Yamanashi.
Is there a more straightforward way of going from Nagano to Yamanashi? Am I better off renting a car from Narita Airport and driving to Nagano then to Yamanashi and finally Tokyo? If so, do I need winter tyres since I’m travelling in December?
Thanks in advance.

Looks like you can get the Shinonoi line changing at Matsumoto for 3000円。Takes 4 hours. (If you do, take an hour detour to see the castle at Matsumoto, it’s one of the oldest in Japan!)
If you mean Yamanashi city, then taking Limited Express Shinano to Matsumoto, Limited Express Azusa to Kofu and Limited Express Kaiji/JR Chuo line local train to Yamanashishi would be the simplest way.
If you mean Fuji Five Lakes, then public transport would have probably be done via Tokyo.
