Rough Itinerary for March

Hello!

I am taking my family (wife, teenager, and small child) to Tokyo for their 1st visit. I have a rough idea of what we should do, but definitely looking for some advice!

March 11 Land in Narita 15:20

Pocket wifi, re-fill pasmo card, etc…

Currently looking at AirBnB’s in the Asakusa area. It seems cheaper in that area and the hotel options seem less spacious. Any recommendations on areas to stay with kids is much appreciated!

March 12 – Taito area

* Skytree
* Aquarium
* Ueno/zoo

March 13 – Asakusa/Ginza

* Asakusa
* Senso-ji
* Nakamise shopping (for the wife)

March 14 – Chiyoda

* Imperial Palace (I read the gardens are closed M/Fri)
* Gardens
* Yasakune Shrine
* Yarakucho izakayas
* Tokyo tower

March 15 – Shibuya (maybe Shinjuku)

* Meiji Jingu
* Shibuya (Hachiko/Crossing/Center Gai)
* Ghibli Museum for an hour or 2 – My daughter is a fan but don’t think she would want to spend a ton of time there

March 16

DisneySea

March 17 – Odaiba

* Teamlab planets (will the new borderless be open by now?)
* Sea life park
* Gundam

March 18 – 20 Fuji?

Depart Narita Mar 20 17:45

Leave midday Mar 18, enjoy the outdoors Mar 19, and head back to Tokyo early on the 20th so I have the time to get to Narita.

My wife is pretty set on going to attempt to see Mt Fuji. Would like to stay near Lake Kawaguchi. I am just not sure what order I should do things. I feel like going to Fuji, then going to Narita Monday morning and then getting on a long flight might be a bit too much traveling back to back. Was also contemplating doing Fuji in the middle of the week for maybe just 1 night. I hear DisneySea is always crowded, but maybe I have a slightly better chance tackling it during the week?

Trust me, I realize it is tough to please a teenager and 4 year old at the same time. All of the itinerary is pretty loose. I know my food/travel experience this time around will be nothing like when I went with my buddies (wife and daughter are not into fish/sushi). I’ve been to Tokyo once before so I am definitely not worried if we don’t get to do everything on here. Not trying to drive my kids and wife nuts by putting the pedal to the metal! Just looking for a somewhat relaxed itinerary.

Thank you for reading this!

  1. This is awesome I’m also looking forward to going around march for my first time do you have any tips for setting all this stuff up. Like Tokyo sky tree and Tokyo tower, you would have to make appointments for these type of events?
