Itinerary check: Dec 19-Jan 6

Hello everyone!
I’m still in shock that my party of 5 will be able to pull off this trip. I’ve been in planning and booking mode the moment the announcement went up. As I’m still in process of researching, below is a rough and not totally completed Itinerary. I’d love any suggestions for unique places to visit or food! We will be hitting a lot of places and would love any input on if we’re putting too much on our plates. I’ve been to Japan once before and I definitely planned too much during that trip.

Dec 19
– Arrive in Narita in the afternoon
– Pick up Mifi
– take skyliner and additional train to Tokyo Station (hotel is in that area)
– Explore around Tokyo station area

Dec 20
– Take train to Osaka (We are not getting a JR pass because it’s not worth it for us)
– Check in, our stay is near Dotonbori
– TeamLabs Osaka night exhibition

Dec 21
– Osaka Castle
– Aquarium Kaiyukan
– Shinsekai

Dec 22
– USJ all day

Dec 23
– Day trip to Kyoto
– Fushimi Inari
– Arashiyama + Monkey Mtn
– Nishiki Market
– Kichi Kichi Omurice

Dec 24
– Explore Minoo Park + hike the Minoo Park trail

Dec 25
(Not sure yet, may just be a free day)

Dec 26
– Head to Lake Biwa for our Ryokan Stay

Dec 27
– Head to our stay at Tokyo Disney
– explore the area or go to Ikspiari

Dec 28
– Tokyo Disney

Dec 29
– Tokyo DisneySea

Dec 30
– Head to Tokyo
– check in at our stay near Shinjuku
– Suga Shrine

Dec 31
– Comiket
– Shibuya Sky + explore Shibuya
– Maybe Asakusa or a smaller shrine

Jan 1
– TeamLabs Planets
– Shopping and hang in Odaiba

Jan 2
(Nothing planned yet, free day)

Jan 3
– Ghibli Museum if we secure tickets
– Shiro-Hige Cream Puff Factory
– Ikebukuro for sunshine city etc

Jan 4
(Nothing planned yet, free day. Maybe Yokohama for the Gundam)

Jan 5
– Tattoo appointment in Shibuya
– square Enix cafe
– Shopping day

Jan 6
– travel to NRT to fly out

  1. Just keep in mind most things will be shut on New Year’s Day and it will be very busy around those days in general. Some Museums and shops will close in the few days around new years and trains will be busy with people travelling for the holidays. Christmas day will be fine though, I’d move a rest day to New Year’s or you could go to a shrine for the festivities if you can handle the crowds
