Samsung keyboard issues

Hey everyone, I recently upgraded from a Google phone to a Samsung. While messing with everything I had to re-add japanese as my second. My issue is as follows;

My Google phone allowed me to type romaji that would change to hiragana. This Samsung keyboard shows you the vowels and has you swipe in a direction to choose what you want to input.

I’m still adjusting to the phone and have no idea how to fix this, any help? Thanks in advance

  1. honestly bro save urself the trouble and download gboard. its googles third party keyboard and its a lot better than samsungs default keyboard. you can also change the background and add as many languages (and language input methods) as you want. i use it on all my android phones lol

  2. I’ve got a Samsung too, you should be able to go into the keyboard language setting and select “qwerty” mode for the Japanese language input. That gives you the romaji keyboard.

  3. Since you’re using Android you can install whatever third-party keyboard you like from the app store.

  4. Settings > General Management > Samsung keyboard settings > Languages and types > 日本語 > Qwerty

    I use 3 × 4 flick, it takes a little getting used to but is so much fun and helps with breaking the romaji-hiragana connection. So I’d actually recommend not switching
