Hello all.
One of my students is looking for some easier Japanese materials for reading practice/a chance to get some more vocab.
I know of NHK Web Easy already, and [Chuu-Nichi Kodomo](https://www.chunichi.co.jp/wadai/kodomo_weekly/kodomo_news) Weekly News.
If anyone has any other suggestions (national or local), I’d appreciate it!
Thank you!

I use http://www.easyjapanese.net/
Although I think it might be too similar to NHK Easy for you.
[Mainichi has one,](https://mainichi.jp/maisho/ch190944831i/6%E3%81%95%E3%81%84%E3%81%8B%E3%82%89%E3%81%AE%E3%83%8B%E3%83%A5%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B9) 6さいからのニュース (I would say quite low level)
Minimal kanji, very short, accompanied by a picture.
If it’s just general learning and they want to move outside news, there’s lots of kids general knowledge /info websites about various topics.
For example,
[https://www.kids.isas.jaxa.jp/](https://www.kids.isas.jaxa.jp/) has a space picture encyclopaedia, interviews with people who work there, etc.
(For those with an interest in space who want something higher level I can recommend [https://fanfun.jaxa.jp/jaxas/](https://fanfun.jaxa.jp/jaxas/) )
I made a blog post that lists beginner resources for reading: https://community.refold.la/blog/dj_ddawgs-beginner-reading-sources-for-japanese/
