What do you think is the best momiji spots in Kanto?

I love seeing the autumn leaves and have been to many spots. So this year I was looking for new spots to see the autumn leaves. I’ve done Hakone, Nikko, and Meiji jingu gaien. If anyone has a good suggestion I’d love to hear it.

  1. *Kairakuen* in *Mito* is mostly plum trees, but a lovely place for an Autumn stroll nonetheless.

Consider a hike up *Tsukuba-san* as well.

  2. I’ve not been, but on my list for next year is Todoroki Valley, apparently lovely for momiji and other trees. Also the Autumn Maple Leaves Valley right next to Tokyo Tower is kind of cool.

  3. Shinrin Koen in Namegawa, central Saitama prefecture, has the best one, hands down. The park does have an entrance fee (450 yen for adults) and it’s a bit out of the way but it keeps the crowds down.

But the real event is at night. You can actually leave the park and come back later in the evening on the same day so you can enjoy the momiji in both day and night mode, but you really have to go for the night light-up, it’s absolutely magical.

  4. There’s a local place I always go to every year in Takahagi at Hananuki Valley. They have food stalls and vendors for the whole month of November.

You can also go to the Ryujin Big Suspension Bridge in Hitachiota or Eigenji Temple in Daigo. Daigo also has the Fukuroda Falls, which is amazing in autumn.
