I shall admit I worry a little bit now. I send up my COE paper to my university as an exchange student (that is supposed to take care of the rest ) ealier last week, with a balance of 1 420 000 Yens on my account (i’m my own support) for a year of study in Japan. The information my university send me was basically saying that showing that you have 1 000 000 Yens to support yourself for a year was the minimum, so I thought that I would have no problem with my current savings.
As a scrolled there, it’s seems like a general consensus that under 1 500 000 Yens for a year, your CoE demand will probably be rejected.. Am I totally screw?
(Just as an additionnal information, I’m supposed to get scholarships (about 800 000 Yens) but since they’re under 80 000Y per month, the paperwork was telling me to not declare them.. in total I will have more than 2 000 000 Yens, which is totally decent. I wasn’t planning to study abroad in total YOLO mode. )

1m yen for a year of study is what is required as far as I’m aware.
Your university knows what it is doing. I would say just trust what they say is required.
