10 DAY ITINERARY Tokyo-Kyoto in November 2022

Hello!

I’ve seen everyone give incredible advice so wanted to try my luck as well! I am flying to Japan very soon and have my itinerary pretty set but would love to hear thoughts and specifically any recommendations for any temple stays (or even onsens) between Tokyo and Kyoto.

For reference: I (F, 20s) am solo-traveling to Japan for the first time and am just excited to see as much as possible. I’ve solo-backpacked in \~20 countries so am pretty used to hostels, eating on the go etc! (They only reason I planned in sit down meals is due to the fact that I’m vegetarian and want to avoid spending too much time looking for food options). Oh and I clearly love free walking tours haha

**QUESTIONS**

1. Any recommendations 1-Night Temple Stay between Tokyo and Kyoto? (I already reached out to JapaneseGuestHouses as well).
2. Would the JapanRailPass be worth using? Probably for Day 5-9.
3. Any recommendations for special (vegetarian friendly) lunches or any other „splurgy“ activities on Day 10? (That day is my birthday!)

  1. Wow. Down to the minute.
Sorry I couldn’t check everything but.
You’re not managing Kiyomizudera in just 1 hr .
Also looks like you need to check the closing times of a few things.
    I don’t recommend the Jrpass.

  2. I’d probably try and give yourself more buffer time to explore different areas. For example Harajuku has more than just Takeshita street to see and most of the interesting side streets are between Omotesando and Aoyama. Day 3 also seems a little weird unless you’re based in Shibuya.
