Hi all!
I’ve been looking into programs to go aboard and expand my Japanese knowledge and want to know my best options (I’m in Highchool so this would be summer term, or if I convince the right people 6 months+). My main focus is receiving the best education I can obtain, and to avoid any “tourist traps” that are more about exploring Japan than actually learning the language. Right now I am looking into EF Toyko (Specifically their intensive course) but many reviews talk about the mediocre education quality for the price.
Thanks for any suggestions!

I went for a year with Greenheart when i was in high school and very much enjoyed it. It’s not a language-learning program so you have to do that part on your own, but a more traditional “get placed in a Japanese high school and interact with classmates/a host family” kinda deal. If this kinda thing interests you, I’d talk it over with your parents and make an appointment with your guidance counselor.
On another note, my year cost 14,000 BUT it ended up being the extra push on my academic record that got me a full-ride at a rather decent university (plus a language ability that has gotten me making decent money translating at a young age), so that investment ended up really working out for me and my family
