Graduated from a language senmon gakkou, now what?

Ive recently graduated in a japanese english translation and interpreting school this spring and got an N1, now im back in my home country and wished i couldve had the chance to get the job offer there. The thing is im really demotivated right now to do a full time job here because its going to require even more effort with less rewards, not to mention how im currently starting everything from scratch again with no connections and such.

1. I went through job hunting before but are companies willing to hire freshgrads overseas with lack of (professional) experience? Ive only done 3 months of QA intern overseas and 1 and half year of part time kitchen work in Japan.

2. If thats not an option i can take a full time job and then apply to Japan after a while. This is really more of a last resort as Ive mentioned before.

3. What are some non-tech jobs and industries that I can look for? I dont like tech but if im desperate enough ill try taking it as long as its not programming. I have a BA in IT which i have no interest in because im more passionate in languages and handson craftsmanship related things like drawing. If there are any technical skills that are in demand there especially in regards for foreigners please tell me so I have an idea on what I can work on just to get my foot on the door.

4. At the same time of doing any of the above apply for JET international coordination programme.

So if my endgoal is to reside in japan for work, whats the best thing that I can do?

For Japanese/English translation? Honestly… No. That market is so flooded that it is borderline impossible to find a full time job *at all*, regardless of experience level. There are thousands of people already in Japan who moonlight as translators, so there’s not much demand for overseas hires.

It may be your last resort, but it’s also almost certainly the only way you’re going to pull this off.

With a degree in IT and no professional experience… There really *aren’t* any jobs/industries that are going to hire you.

    >I dont like tech but if im desperate enough ill try taking it as long as its not programming. I have a BA in IT

But again… You have no professional experience. And you are now at least 2 years removed from your degree (Assuming you went straight from your degree to the senmon gakko) so even your IT degree isn’t going to be particularly helpful.

Being blunt: You should have *stayed* in Japan and utilized the job placement/assistance facilities at your senmon gakko.

But since you didn’t: You need to pick something to focus on. You’re like… Translation. IT. Other tech fields. Non-tech fields! HR and hiring managers can smell “desperate to live in Japan” from miles away and you won’t get any traction the way you’re currently headed.

Honestly: You need to focus on what you ***want to do***, not what’s going to get you to Japan.

  2. 3d modelling is kind of a combo of art and tech to some extent, there’s also alot of gaming companies that might need people who can make digital assets for games, maybe look Into that? Using blender etc
