I know, another pitch accent thread. But take a look at these:
対戦 大戦
本館 本官
整理 生理
時速 自足
無常 無情
Some of these words have confusingly similar meanings. For example I can see how one could mistake 大戦 for 対戦 in speech and vice versa. Others have very different meanings. I’ve seen the argument that pitch accent is the key to understanding homophones, but looking at these I don’t think so. Am I missing something?
