So me (American) and my Wife (Japanese) and daughter (both) are planning on making a trip back to the States for Thanksgiving week. We are looking for travel insurance that can cover all of us, but all of the travel insurance agencies I can find expect you to already be living in the US and traveling to other places. Anyone know of any travel insurance that can cover us while traveling _to the United States_? TIA

What companies are you looking at? I’ve never heard of insurance companies in Japan only selling travel insurance for people living in the US. There are plenty of companies that you can apply for the insurance online or you can apply for it at the airport when you leave.
Use any Japanese credit card that has travel insurance covered, should be the easiest method if you already have one
I assume that’s what happens when you only search in English on Google set to US English.
Search for 旅行保険 or just buy it from the Kisok at the airport if your credit card doesn’t have it already
I used IMG patriot and it was especially helpful when my son got an ear infection and I had to take him to urgent care.
We’ve (American with PR and Japanese citizen) used the insurance companies which have booths at the airports. It was very easy to sign up for travel to and within the US. One two recent trips, we used Tokio Marine and then, Sompo (online).
Nomad insurance
Used AIG for the whole family (me: US citizen, wife: Japanese national, kid: dual citizen) and had no problems when I got 2nd degree burns on my hand while barbecuing and had to go to the ER (700 bucks for the visit). Just filled in some forms and sent them copies of the receipts and they took care of everything.
I’m sure your wife can help. Also you can always just buy it at the airport.
