It has been around 5 years that I have been at USJ.
1. Do I have to buy tickets at Klook now if I do not have a Japanese credit card?
2. we want to go 7 or 8th if December / any clue jf it makes sense to go to a Lawson the week before and buy I there? We mainly want to see Super Mario Land.

Would love to know about this as well. Last time I book via Klook, they asked for my passport for verification which I declined and got refunded instead. Then I bought the ticket a night before from one of the hotel in universal city walk, but that was because I stayed there so I’m not sure if we can buy it directly in advanced if we don’t stay in that hotel.
For your first question, I was able to purchase tickets/express pass on the official USJ website using my American Express! (non-Japanese Visa and Mastercard will not work)
I bought a day ticket through Klook, since it seemed like the only way to buy a ticket through their site directly was by using Apple Pay.
I’m planning on arriving about an hour early before the park opens and making a beeline for Nintendo Land to get the timed access ticket. That combined with going on a weekday should mean a pretty high chance of getting into Nintendo land.
