How much did you spend on renting? Were you making a salary much higher than what you could’ve made at home back then? Is that where the Japan is expensive stereotype came from?
I’m currently in Tokyo, and it’s so cheap, and salaries so low, that it’s sometimes feels crazy for me to think that thirty years ago this was the place with the most expensive real estate and highest salaries in the world.
