  1. Signed. Regardless of how you feel about ALTs, if a company is going to profit off of them, they should be paying a fair salary and providing insurance.

  2. No. ALT work is way too simple.

If higher wages are really necessary, then it’s time companies like JET need to up the standards. Or better yet abolish the ALT profession and just replace it with teaching positions.

Right now, you literally just need a Bachelor Degree, and knowledge of the English language. Something most people have, as such weeaboos come along wanting to go to animeland, and get a hot Japanese wife rather than teach English to a bunch of kids who really don’t want to be there.

So no, ALTs don’t deserve a higher wage until higher standards are put in place. It’s like asking to get paid more than Minimum Wage at McDonalds.

Is it not enough to just go to Japan and do a very simplistic job at that.

Now to the second point: how much should ALTs get paid. In a specific amount. Once that amount is decided, what justifies the raise in salary? If doing the same work is your answer, then that essentially means more money is just being thrown at people who aren’t even qualified teachers when more could be thrown at the actual teachers.

  3. Interac is nicknamed Interape for a good reason. After working with them for 8 years, I can tell you that this is the worst company I’ve ever worked for. They should ideally be taken to court for being so frugal. They capitalize on foreign peoples desperation to live in japan.
