GABA – How likely am I to be placed where I requested?

So, after what seems like a long time coming, I finally completed the third and final stage of GABA’s recruitment process. I passed the 1st interview, passed the written tasks, and today I had my 2nd and final interview. I’m feeling positive about how it all went, and I’m hoping that they come back to me with an offer!

I was wondering if anyone who’s worked for GABA before could tell me their experiences regarding their placements? My boyfriend is currently living in Osaka, and lives 15 minutes away from 2 of the GABA studios, and we’re planning on moving in together once his current apartment lease runs out next May. I explained my situation to my recruiters and during both interviews they sounded very understanding and said that they would take my circumstances into account.

However, how likely am I to be placed in Osaka/Kansai as requested?

Where did you request to be placed, and where did you actually get placed once you received an offer of employment?

Please no useless negative comments about how to ‘steer clear’ or ‘run while you can’ etc.

I’d like some positive and useful information from people who have experience in this.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can contribute!

All the best,

Naarael

  1. Three interviews just to work at GABA!!!! What has the world come to in Japan ffs!!

  2. Virtually every company in the English industry in Japan operates by the same standard: you will be placed where you are needed/where there are openings.

If there are openings in Osaka, there’s a chance you’ll work there, while also considering that a big city like Osaka is large and thus competitive, and the people already working there are less likely to leave.

If there are no openings in Osaka, you won’t be placed there.

I’m not saying it won’t happen, but it’s very much not a guarantee, and there’s not a whole lot that can be done on your end to change that.

  3. I asked for a very popular location (Tokyo North) and got placed there. As long as the studio has room and demand for another instructor, it’s likely but you can’t know til you know.

  4. Just hope you won’t ask for Tokyo and be placed in Miyakejima or one of the other bumfuck islands south of it lol

  5. I worked for gaba before and i got placed in the exact LS i asked for.

Just 1 thing to note about the belting course, the optional courses you can take to increase your per lesson salary: you can take the course but it doesnt make your salary automatically increase, instead the gaba headquarters will randomly select per month a quota of people to get the salary increase due to budget constraints. This they wont tell you in the interview
