Diplomats are immune from traffic violations citations and tickets due to their diplomatic immunity status. Even then it was found that Russia with its 79 diplomatic plates were causing majority over 40% of the cases in Japan. The ambassador claimed that they are now “strictly enforcing” and cases have gone down, but the data shows the opposite. In 2019 1101 instance but last year 1826. Ovrall percentage increased from 40-47%. Again when confronted with this, the ambassador just said “BuT oThEr CoUnTrY dO iT tOo RREEEEEE”
In one of the scenes in a video a Russian diplomat was trying to drive after consuming alcohol. Blatantly lies and said it was a tea. Even DUI is on the table.
But I bet they won’t be this disrespectful in their master country China.
No wonder the Russian army is so disorganized
I suggest Japanese diplomats to return the favor in Russia.
5 violations a day…
Not only in Japan, diplomats are often known to ignore local laws.
The pinnacle of Japanese foreign policy pressure on Russia – etoooo….battoooo….you dontooo respecto ruuuuuuru…..
Russia is culturally at a point which is pretty much the opposite of Japan—incompetent, inconsiderate, disrespectful, dishonest, and crass. The rot is pervasive, from the head to the tail. Their diplomats behaving this way is upsetting but not surprising.
Now I understand why Hitler looked down on the Russians.
My guess is, the Japanese police selectively enforce the rules depending on the country. How many times do you think US diplomats get pinged for violations? Probably never.
NY city decided at some point that while diplomats may have immunity, cars don’t, and started towing them.
I have a 30 year old memory of the Soviets owing NYC millions of dollars in parking fines, but at this point I have no idea where I even heard it
LOL! The comments here resorted to whataboutism real quick!
**Comrade Vlad** ( with a mouth full of Vkusno i tochka burgers): *Oh look at the Americans, they’re the worst in Japan.*
**The usual suspect western bigot gaijins** : *But, but. but Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese are the top 3 “by huge margin”.*
It’s like watching Animal Farm in real life. *All foreigners are bad, but some are more bad than others* kinda crap. Hilarious!
Whataboutism was perfected in Russia.
While I’m not trying to defend Russia or other diplomats for randomly parking in the middle of the world, anyone living in Japan knows that Japanese literally will put on their hazards and park ANYWHERE unchallenged. The amount of times I have to go into opposing traffic due to someone just stopped in the middle of the road is infuriating.
