Wisdom teeth removal pain

My friend had her wisdom teeth removed recently and she is still in a lot of pain, apparently mostly gum pain. Does anyone have any suggestions or what will help the pain? I don’t the the medicine she got works well. I thought maybe baby teething gel could work but I’m not sure. Anyone who experienced the same, I’d be grateful for any recommendations I can give her. Thanks!

  1. I am not trying to pry into anyone’s personal info, however, Japan does place limits on the amount of prescribed pain medicine to how many kilograms a person weighs. Japan’s pain medicine limits the maximum weight to 60kg. I broke my kneecap in half about 10yrs ago. I weigh about 100kg, so the medicine given to me was a lot less than what my weight needed. The only way to get more relief is to buy something like Bufferin over the counter instead.

If the pain is unbearable, it may be an issue to discuss with the dentist. Usually, the dentist has a scheduled appointment after the removal to check the issue. If it is really bad, don’t wait, just go back to the dentist. It costs pennies comparatively.

Also, dentists are a dime a dozen in Japan. If the dentist doesn’t seem to listen, use Google Maps to see the reviews of different dentists in your area and go to the one with better ratings. Keep in mind that those dentists usually have longer waiting times.

  2. If you’re looking for OTC whenever I had teeth pain Loxonin S premium worked, as well at the tooth numbing gels (but they are only temporary, located in the toothpaste area) Loxonin you have you buy from the pharmacy counter and there are times when you aren’t able to purchase it. It’s prescription-strength afaik.

If the pain persists she should really go back to the dentist and tell them of course

  3. Loxoprofen doesn’t do shit for me, and has toxicity that makes it a bad idea to take it at higher doses. That’s what they gave me after my wisdom tooth got ripped out. I threw it away and survived on 800mg doses of ibuprofen (bought a bunch of whichever EVE doesn’t have other shit mixed into it, was just ibuprofen) and that worked well for me. I staggered doses of that with acetaminophen (taking the max dose of one or the other every 4 hours) and it got me through it.

  4. They sell something here called Gaman, that should do the trick.

Jokes aside she should consult with her dentist. If the pain medicine he gave her isn’t helping then there might not be much else that can be done; they limit that stuff because it’s addictive.

  5. Might be work visiting the dentist. Although it could be just pain, it could also be an infection leading to pain.

The dentist will be best suited to determine the cause of the issue and prescribe accordingly.

This is based on my personal experience removing my wisdom teeth. Not 100% if it’s the same process in Japan.

  6. Probably not a good thing to recommend but I take pain relief for every thing. Headaches toothache PMS etc.
but honestly she should get herself checked once gain at the dentist.

  7. Did they give her anything? Usually they would give something. They don’t like oxycodone here, so they might give Voltaren which is an NSAID.

If she’s taking a prescription pain medication and that’s not working, I’d go back. Especially if it is getting worse over time.

I just had an infection that went up to my jaw bone and what eventually killed the pain was antibiotics, really. So, you’d want to make sure the wound isn’t infected.
