Looking for a magazine subscription that i can get in the US, Gaming related, that’s entirely in Japanese.

Note, this is NOT for me, this is for my brother and i wanna get him a magazine that’s fully Japanese That he can read (hes fairly far along in learning afaik, so it doesn’t have to be for new Japanese learners).
gaming related preferably, if not, anime related, or anything particularly interesting.

Does anyone have any ideas? preferably subscription based, and not too wildly expensive.

  1. Depends on your definition of “expensive” but [Kinokuniya](https://usa.kinokuniya.com/subscription) offers subscriptions for a couple different magazines. iirc, Japanese magazines are just generally kind of on the expensive side, so I think anything will be kind of expensive by American standards

Edit: I got curious so I Googled to confirm, but a year’s subscription to Vogue US is $24 (discounted to $12 for the first year), while a year’s subscription to Vogue Japan is ¥10,560 (currently discounted to ¥7,920)

  2. There are some good subscription options digitally. Shonen Jump is pretty affordable IIRC. Bookwalker seems to have subscription options for Famitsu. As for physical items, it might be worth looking into some art books or guides for a game they like. If Final Fantasy is their thing, the Ultimania books can be really cool. There are a few nice art books for the Persona series too.

  3. While Kinokuniya does offer magazine subscriptions, they can be spendy because they include the shipping cost from Japan in the subscription. (They do this with all of their books, which is why they’re expensive compared to the price in yen printed on the book) If you’re okay with that then Kinokuniya is a good place to get them from.

I know you can buy single magazines from CDJapan (and yes they are a good place to order from), I don’t think they offer subscriptions.

Amazon JP also sells individual magazines, but the shipping isn’t cheap (though their express shipping is really fast and is a couple dollars more than the standard)
