We just moved and KDDI couldn’t service our new place, so they pawned our contract off onto Biglobe. My understanding from reddit and other sources was that as long as we ordered the “phone” addon we should be able to do ipoe/map-e and avoid ipv4 pppoe perf issues.
They told my wife we could/should order a router, which I did (tplink ax20, has map-e and dslite support). The installation happened today and the guy installed an rx-600ki which I guess is an onu/router combo unit, so I took the tplink out of the picture for the moment.
Signed into the rx-600ki as user/user but I’m not sure how to determine if ipoe is set up properly or if they just slapped it together with pppoe… couple screenshots in comments below. thanks!

you’re connected with pppoe.
you need to apply for and wait to enable ipv6 with https://support.biglobe.ne.jp/ipv6/option.html
make sure this is on before proceeding with the rest of the setup.
for me it took two business days after applying for ipv6 to be enabled by biglobe.
