I’m interested in using Google Pay with SUICA / Pasmo on my phone, which is a direct from Japan Google Pixel 6 (confirmed model GR1YH in Settings).
However, Osaifu Keitai is not installed and the app is not showing as compatible with my device in the store. If I open Google Pay -> Payment -> + Payment Method, the E-money option is greyed out and says “Requires Osaifu Keitai”.
The phone is logged in with a US account with only a US payment method enabled, but I’m sure many people happily using mobile SUICA or other Felica apps are in the same boat.
Any hints on how to get this working?

Make a separate Japan region google account, switch to it inside the play store, then search for and download Osaifu Keitai.
I think what you can do is create a new Gmail account and login with it in the Google Play Store while you are in Japan. Then you will be able to download all the Japanese apps and then remove the new Gmail account too.
