pension refund status check?

It’s been about 6 months since I submitted the lump sum withdrawal paperwork. I’m thinking about calling the pension interpretation service to check the status of my refund, but *like an idiot*, I forgot to make a copy of the pension book or write down my pension number before I shipped it off. (Or maybe I did but I’ve since lost that?? I cannot express how terrible I am with paperwork. It’s all on me and I own it.)

Anyway, anyone know if it’s possible to do the status check without the pension number? Or should I not bother and just keep waiting?

  1. You are going to need your pension number for them to investigate your information. I suggest looking for it or wait a few more weeks maybe until the 21st.

  2. Your previous employer may have your pension number in file! We had an ALT lose their book and the BOE got it reissued, so I am assuming they had that information for payroll purposes.

  3. For the rest of your life, when you have important paperwork that you’re about to send off either make a photocopy of it or take a picture and put it in the cloud.
